This course is the first semester of a two-semester series, designed for science, engineering and pre-professional students, which endeavors to provide a foundation for understanding the properties of matter in terms of its atomic and molecular constitution. Emphasis is on the qualitative comprehension of chemical principles and the application of those principles to quantitatively addressing problems. The accompanying laboratory offers reinforcement of the lecture topics and/or introduction of additional concepts and techniques by providing hands-on experience in working with chemicals and scientific instrumentation.

PreRequisites: College Level Math Placement AND CHM 101 completed with a C or higher OR 1 year of High School Chemistry completed with a B or higher
